We are NOT a ‘democracy’...if you don’t understand that simple concept; you shouldn’t have the right to vote.
They don’t teach civics anymore.
You’re right. While founded with democratic principles in mind, the United States is a republic.
Bingo, this nation is supposed to be a “representative republic.”
We are a representative form of democracy according to the Merriam-Webster definition. We are not a "direct" or "liquid" democracy.
Merriam-Webster definition of democracy:
a: government by the people especially : rule of the majority
b: a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections
Calling America a democracy is a reliable tell with leftists, progressives, D’rats and other unAmerican types.
They cannot stand saying “our republic” and “republican process” because it sounds like “Republican”. They do love to use what sounds like “Democrat”.
Patriot Americans call us a republic, with a republican process.
We used to recite our Pledge of Allegiance to the classroom U.S. flag every morning in grade school — “...and to the republic for which it stands...”.
Pubic school unionized progressive teachers did away with that practice decades ago. Purposely.
