I entered a radio contest a couple years ago and won a $400 bottle of Dom Perignon. (Champaign) Was nice, but not $400 nice.

Dom has those really small tight bubbles. A result of the fermentation in a cool/cold climate. Slows down the yeast. Just like it does in bread.
There really is a difference between Dom and other Sparkling wines.

I could never understand the allure of Champagne, much less Dom Perignon.
Even when someone else pays for it, I'll choose the beer.
