Add to that since Bush v. Gore was decided in 2000 votes intended to be tallied for Electoral College purposes -- what really matters, has to be done by Dec 13. If not done, states cannot send Electors for inclusion in the EC tally.

Trump's lawyers will challenge and get thrown out flawed mail in ballots and a state will have to decide whether the ability to count them is even possible given the Trump lawyer challenges with the threat that their state may become entirley disqualified from participating in the EC at all for failure to finish counting.

Add to that if the election got thrown to the House a single rep from a House delegation will be chosen to cast a electoral vote. (R) delegations presently are 26, (D) delegations are 24.
