The Smithsonian institution has General Washington’s uniform on display. It’s actually very slender and I don’t know how tall history records him to be but that uniformed mannaquin didn’t look anything over 5ft8in or 5ft10in max.

But this matters, because our culture is increasingly shallow and easily swayed. Today the LA Times ran a story about the Leslie Stahl interview, and the photos they ran with the story are SO telling.

She's well-lit, air-brushed, smiling, looking into the viewer's eyes.

For him, they took a grab of him on the balcony, shadowy, looking moody, eyes looking away from the viewer. I mean, it's not even subtle. One screams "Heroine!!" the other screams "Villain!!"
