My son got a prescription a few years ago due to brain cancer. He gets the oil pills, I believe.
He has been in the hospital many times since the prescription. They give him a lockbox to put it in. They cannot touch it or give it to him.
But if he wants oxy they will bring in a bucket full if he wants it.
