In my generation, among tradesman it was understood that you don't mess with someone's tools. Destroying a way to make a living was considered one of the lowest crimes imaginable. God help the tool thief if the tradesmen caught him.

A ballpark figure would be somewhere close to a million if it were all new. Used, probably 1/2 million. Plus the loss of his crops since he won;t be able to get them in in time.
