Biggest Winter Range Test Ever Reveals Best EVs For Cold Weather
Linky poo
The first thing the association discovered was that the tested EVs present around
18.5 percent less
range than their manufacturers state on WLTP.
He says
customers get really disappointed to discover the range is so affected by low temperatures, as well as charging.
That is certainly not an issue for people that are used to EVs, but what about new adopters? Managing expectations can be crucial to increase EV sales.

"...GMC claims it's capable of blasting from zero to 60 mph in just 3.0 seconds..." I want to see that.

A benefit of an EV truck is larger battery capacity - rendering the cold-weather limits less of an issue. Distance matters if max range is <100 miles (as I found with a Leaf), or noticeable with 200-300 mile range, but being able to put a >500 mile battery in assures drivers they'll have enough range for a, er, range of situations.

“But we do know that it will offer 1000 horsepower and GMC claims it’s capable of blasting from zero to 60 mph in just 3.0 seconds.”
But it only has a range of 5 miles on a full charge. . . .

What they’re going to do with EV vehicles is totally overload them with electronic/computer wizbang stuff, so after 1 year or so, all the sensors and gizmos start failing.

GM stands for Government Motors. I won’t buy another GM until they repay taxpayers back loan of $15 billon plus 12 years of interest.

Yeah, let me know when Mr. Fusion is available, until then I don’t trust the too few charging stations and the too inadequate power grids and power generation for all these EV’s they are trying to ram down our throats.

yeah, but can it go for more than 50 miles without recharging the batteries?

Well, I saw the HUMMERev ad.
The big reveal was, in fact, a couple-minute ad.
OK, features include:
- 4-wheel “crabwalk” _steering_
- available fall 2021
- under-body cameras
- 250-350 mile range
- 100 mile charge in 10 minutes
- 625-1000 horsepower
- 0-60 in 3 seconds
- removable (mostly) roof
- autopilot cruise with lane change
- +6”/-2” adjustable clearance
- $80-113,000
Big emphasis on off-road ability.
