17 is a very significant number in numerology and Free Masonry, which coincidentally is said to have been founded in 1717. Being made up of 1 and 7, 1 associated with the individual and 7 associated with the spirit. Both are prime numbers. Together they make 8, which is associated with success in business.
The ancient Egyptian story goes that on day 17, Osiris was killed by his brother Set and cut his body into 14 pieces. Isis searched for and found all the pieces except for his male member. That was said to have become fish food for the lepidotus, the sea-bream, and the pike. Egyptians are most scrupulous in abstaining, even today, from eating these fishes.
Not to be disappointed, Isis fashioned a replacement phallus for the resurrected Osiris corpse and used it to impregnate herself. She is said therefrom to have given birth to Horus. She is also said to have created 26 such replicas of the missing member and placed them throughout the world at locations that would become centers of Osiris worship. (FWIW, "penis" is an abbreviation of PHOENIX, a bird said to come back to life after death.)
The Washington Monument (WM) was likewise erected in honor of Osiris and the resurrection story by Masons at the location that hitherto had been known as Rome, Maryland. Andrew White donated his home which was known as "The White House." The WM is 666' tall, with 555' of it above ground and 111' below. As above as below, it is made of marble, granite, and bluestone gneiss.
The image on the Rider-Waite version of the Tarot is of a night sky with 8 prominent 8-pointed stars — one large beacon star surrounded by 7 smaller stars. This represents the hopeful and spiritually active energy of 17.

17 is thought to be an age of significant spiritual occurrences in a human. Some say it is an angel number or represents or divine optimism.
The multiples 34 and 51 are also thought to be significant, particularly 51 (think "Area 51" and 0.051 is a "statistically significant" p-value), as "there is power in threes," the adage goes.
