Leftists have always been unhinged, but they managed to keep it under wraps, because normal people tend to get a bit nervous when they see someone going off the deep end.
I have heard in popular culture that when the devil exists inside a human, occasionally it will inadvertently reveal itself via a physical thing, like a bug crawling out the corner of the eye or things like that.
I think of the alien in the movie “Men In Black” who took over the body of Farmer John, and was having trouble staying inside.
That describes people on the Left, to me...
