Biden can’t drop out. Votes for Biden will not be counted towards Harris at the top of the ticket. Too late for that.

Yes, he can promise he would step aside, but that’s basically what they have been running on anyway, just without saying it. Nobody could actually force him to step aside though, or stop him from pardoning himself and Hunter if he won. I’m not sure “trust me” will work well as a strategy in this circumstance.

The Clintons were masters at dealing with stuff like this.

Examples of approaches they like:

—Deny, just deny everything.
—Attack the accusers. Call them names.
—Claim it has already been investigated and you have been exonerated.
—Claim the documents are fake.
—Bribe or threaten witnesses when necessary, kill them if that does not work.
—Attack Republicans—the mass media _loves_ that.
—Change the subject to anything else.
—Have family members vouch for how wonderful you are.
—Have celebrities vouch for how wonderful you are.

Please feel free to add to the list!

The problem now is that millions have already voted and there is hardly time to reprint or change the ballots. Voters would have to write in the new candidate.
...............
Harris cannot claim Biden’s votes only the party can name a new candidate.
...............
After Nov. 4, but before Dec. 14 when the Electoral College votes, the party can try to put a new candidate forward, but ultimately the electors state by state would decide who gets that spot.
...............
The final scenario would happen after Dec. 14. In that case, Congress takes over.
.................
If they saw there were electors cast for someone who died or left the ballot they might keep the votes or they may throw them out.

Since you are actually voting for electors instead of the President and VP directly, those electors can vote for anyone. Some states have laws about "unfaithful electors" but I doubt those apply if a candidate has dropped out. Earlier today one Freeper posted the Texas law in this case and if the candidate drops out after the ballot cut-off date (well passed now) the electors get free rein on who they vote for. Ohio is less specific, but Ohio Revised Code 3505.10 makes it clear that you are actually voting for the elector who has to vote for the nominee, but nothing in there or in ORC 3505.40 says what happens if the nominee has dropped out.

Up until now, I assumed that Joe would step aside - or be pushed aside - as soon as it could be done gracefully. But the dating on Hunter’s China deal email - May 2017 - means that these deals were made “on the come”, with the expectation that “the Big Guy” would be in a position to provide the influence the Chinese are paying for. So that requires Joe to stay at the top, UNLESS Kamala is in on the deal.
