>The more I think about that the less sense it makes.
Agreed, but.
Given that everything that appears in open source media is massaged in some form or another, where could the truth lie?
For starters, I think Rudy is a White-Hat with near 100% confidence. HE says the hard drive is legit. Lets start from there.
Somebody had possession of Hunters laptop or laptops, drive or drives. My first question is how did the laptop in question get waterlogged? I, for one choose not to shower with mine. On the other hand it could be as simple as dumping a cup of coffee over it while it was operating.
Take it to the Apple Store ? Sure, if you want to waste a few hours or several hours depending on travel time, and walk into a crowd like they usually have there. Not the greatest way to remain autonomous.
So you tell your assistant to do it for you. Walk into some local cyber fix-it shop under an assumed name. According to one of the reports there were multiple machines dropped off.
Most logical conclusion would be to install am SSD large enough for all the data from the other machines and external drives.
Why not return to pick it up? The number from the burner phone got copied wrong, cold feet after the fact & wrongly assuming that the data is kaput, or the assistant has a Seth Rich moment and decides that he can’t go along with what he knows is happening and figures that the repairman will find the incriminating data and turn it over to the authorities.
The fact that the Chinese “resistance ?” seems to have a copy of the same data adds another wrinkle to the story.
Enjoy the movie, folks.
It fell off a boat?
