The film “Zero Dark Thirty” showed a Team 6 member taking photos of Bin Laden and HIS FINGERPRINTS. And possibly some blood for DNA teating.
Now if that is true, then there were several cross-checks on the body before he was swimming with the fishes.
Coincidentally, I left SVN/Cambodia and was airborne going home when the Sontay Raid was going on. We ( I was with the press) didn’t learn the details of it for many years and there are still some parts that haven’t been made public.
My (later) friends (Denton, Day, Benge, Stark, etc) in the Hanoi Hilton were elated that a raid had been attempted even if it did not find American POWS who had been moved a few days or weeks before the raid was launched.
These “fake raids, fake Bin Laden” stories are full of shit. Period!
I knew many of the Son Tay men. Gerald Kilburn, S-3,was an FOB 2 Kontum SOG Major in 66. He led an HF Battalion into Laos. He and I fished at Camp Mackall. He had been a POW in Korea for 1,000 days. The SGM’s knew when he had a night at the SF O’Club on the hill. It was in the old wooden barracks. SGM Ferguson had me sign the morning report and I’d pick up a case of beer and put it on ice. He said remember you are checking on the training. Kilburn made LTC.
