PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: Cyber Threats to Voting Processes Could Slow But Not Prevent Voting

The FBI and CISA are issuing this PSA as a part of a series on threats to the 2020 election to enable the American public to be prepared, patient, and participating voters.

Cyber Threats to Voting Processes Could Slow But Not Prevent Voting

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) are issuing this announcement to inform the public that attempts by cyber actors to compromise election infrastructure could slow but not prevent voting. The FBI and CISA have not identified any threats, to date, capable of preventing Americans from voting or changing vote tallies for the 2020 Elections. Any attempts tracked by FBI and CISA have remained localized and were blocked, minimal, or easily mitigated.

The FBI and CISA have no reporting to suggest cyber activity has prevented a registered voter from casting a ballot, compromised the integrity of any ballots cast, or affected the accuracy of voter registration information. However, even if actors did achieve such an impact, the public should be aware that election officials have multiple safeguards and plans in place— such as provisional ballots to ensure registered voters can cast ballots, paper backups, and backup pollbooks—to limit the impact and recover from a cyber incident with minimal disruption to voting. The FBI and CISA continue to assess that attempts to manipulate votes at scale would be difficult to conduct undetected.

Nevertheless, cyber actors continue attempts against election systems that register voters or house voter registration information, manage non-voting election processes, or provide unofficial election night reporting. These attempts could render these systems temporarily inaccessible to election officials, which could slow, but would not prevent, voting or the reporting of results.

The FBI and CISA will continue to quickly respond to potential threats, provide recommendations to harden election infrastructure, notify stakeholders of threats and intrusion activity, and impose risks and consequences on cyber actors seeking to threaten US elections.

Recommendations

The FBI is responsible for investigating and prosecuting election crimes, malign foreign influence operations and malicious cyber activity targeting election infrastructure and other U.S. democratic institutions. CISA helps critical infrastructure owners and operators, including those in the election community, remain resilient against physical and cyber threats. The FBI and CISA provide services and information to uphold the security, integrity, and resiliency of the U.S. electoral processes.

Victim Reporting and Additional Information

The FBI and CISA encourages the public to report information concerning suspicious or criminal activity to their local FBI field office (www.fbi.gov/contact-us/field). President Trump's administration has been working on securing the 2020 election for years now. It looks like the systems are under attack but the administration's cyber systems are deflecting so we're on track for a real election.

However, the Dems are fanning natural concerns into over drive to de-legitimize an election they can't othgerwise electronically steal. So the cyber attacks continue while at the same time they fan lies, rumors or discovered and mitigatedinstances of attacks to try to convince the public that Trump's win in November can't be trusted, couldn't possibly be the result of accurate voting.

Tough road ahead patriots. Concerns are legitimate and attacks will continue. The administration asks that we verify verify verify before sharing on Social Media in order to avoid falling into the Dem campaign to de-legitimize the election. Like I said, tough road ahead. :/

If you're on the technical side, here's a more detailed document about the cyber security systems in play.

Dems are looking for any irregularity, no matter how slight or made up, so they can scream “fraud” and contest the election.

Always consider the source of voting information. Ask yourself, “Can I trust this information?”

I am, and since the FBI is involved I have to assume the FBI is planning some sort of disruption at many key places and will hold up the vote counting until enough provisional and mail in ballots are found to put biden ahead.

Well, if the FBI is on it, I guess everything is safe!

Those being purged from the FBI and DOJ are often allowed to claim to leave on their own, but the Trump administration has been cleaning house. For example, all those participating in Hillary's fake "mid-term review" have been fired. Today, Catherine Herridge is reporting that Bruce Ohr resigned one day before being fired for his behavior exposed in Horowitz report.

The FBI, as headed by Wray, is still covering corruption rather than revealing it. And those who were “fired” mostly left to land cushy and lucratice media kobs where they continue their spin and coverups.

I have zero confidence in the organization at this point and believe it should, like the CIA, be eliminated rahter than believing there is any hope of real reform.

Nope.
Rosenstein went back to the creepy law firm that spawned him, as have a few others.

I believe they are under prosecution and being listed as en employee means the law firm will represent them and their "employment" is the reason they are in constant company with their attorneys. The MSM and the indicted will not talk about it. The Trump administration seeks stability and is not talking about it.

Barr saw what Rosenstein et. al. were doing, what they signed etc. It's Rod's name on the FISA's that are part of his legal problems.

Your graphic is very disturbing and interesting. But, at 1320 pixels wide it overscans monitors set to 1200 resolution. I didn’t realize there were three columns until I scrolled to reveal the third column.

A solution that will make this graphic, or any graphic, fit on any size monitor: add width=95% to your img HTML tag.

Bwaha. No.

Rosenstein of course was Deputy AG, not in the FBI. But he is raking in millions as a partner in a law firm, not being prosecuted.

And lots of the broader crew are in the media, making money continuing their spin. (Hello, Comey—congratulations on that Showtime miniseries based on your book!)

SO you think the FISA news re RR is all good? He’s gonna make bank on it. You think Comey’s comfortable and looking for a life of luxury? I see panic.

Okay, we disagree. We’ll see who’s right in time.

I stand by my position. Wray is pathetic as is the whole, largely corrupt, FBI. Those who have left have almost all got off scot free and are pulling in the dough now. It needs to be shut down and I don’t trust it re: the election.
