I know a practicing Muslim and he once told me a that wearing gold is forbidden for men. Exceptions can be made for cultural reasons, as might be the case in expressing devotion to a spouse through the wearing of a wedding ring.
Maybe Obama is recommitting himself to Islam in an open way and is more devoted to Islam than he is to the Mrs and doesn’t want to pretend any more.
