Actually I have had no problem over the years. Maybe if my patch grew much bigger, but they come up straight. the leaves stick through the sides and it hides the cage nicely.

Thank you for your reply 🌺. The peony I want to get is called Armani red, a very deep red. I think I might order it in spring. The company I want to get it from (Park Seeds) will ship it in fall or spring. I think I'd rather get it in spring, incase we get a bad winter. Not much time now to let a newly planted one root in good for the winter. It costs $28. But it is a beauty!
