FLORENCE, S.C. — South Carolinians will soon be seeing a new advertisement supporting Sen. Lindsey Graham in his reelection bid.

The Security is Strength political action committee announced Thursday morning that it would soon be debuting an ad titled “Too Close.”

The $1.2 million ad buy targets voters watching broadcast stations in the Florence-Myrtle Beach, Greenville-Spartanburg, Columbia, and Charleston markets and cable and satellite systems across the state.

Graham, a Republican, is running against Democrat Jaime Harrison to keep his Senate seat.

The ad details Harrison’s connections to companies and organizations “who aim to strengthen China, weaken America, and sell out South Carolina.”

The campaigns of Harrison and Graham have traded allegations of selling out for several weeks. Harrison’s camp maintains that Graham sold out to President Donald Trump to increase his own power, leaving South Carolina behind in the process.

The ad begins by referencing Harrison’s connection to the Podesta Group.

That group was founded by John Podesta, who served as chairman of Hillary Clinton’s unsuccessful 2016 White House bid.

The provided background information alleges that Harrison went from a person with “no assets” and who was “virtually broke” except for a salary paid by Congressman James Clyburn to someone with over $3 million in assets.

Cities with the largest increase in home prices over the last decade
Clyburn represents South Carolina’s Sixth Congressional District, which includes a most of the central eastern portion of the state including a part of southern Florence County and all of Williamsburg County.

Harrison left Clyburn’s office for the Podesta Group in 2008.

Then, the ad references clients of the Podesta Group, the China-US Exchange Foundation and United Technologies.

The foundation has been registered as a foreign agent representing China.

A subsidiary of United Technologies pleaded guilty in 2012 to providing software to the Chinese government which allowed that country to construct its first attack helicopter.

Harrison was listed as a lobbyist for United Technologies in 2010 and 2011.

“He sold us out…” the ad ends. “... liberal Jaime Harrison… too close to China to EVER trust him in the U.S Senate…”

Security is Strength is a super political action committee — meaning it can raise unlimited funds — was formed to highlight Senator Lindsey Graham’s commitment to keeping South Carolinians safe, secure, and prosperous and is the only such committee solely dedicated to re-electing Lindsey Graham to the U.S. Senate.

The ad can also be viewed at securityisstrengthpac.com.
