The President has full authority to hire or fire him at will.
I really don't know what it will take to get through to some of you people. The POTUS can not just hire anyone he wants, it has to go through mcconnell. That is why Trump has had to pick deep staters. Also why mcconnell has never put the senate in recess, that blocks Trump from making recess appointments.
