I have good friends and relatives who are Democrats. They are fine people, just very misguided. And I know nothing I can say will ever change their minds. That can only come from their own experience. So I follow these two rules when talking to them.
Rule #1: Do not discuss politics.
Rule #2: If they bring up politics, it’s a trap. So refer back to Rule #1.

There isn’t a Democrat alive that wouldn’t relish the thought of helping load us Irredeemable Deplorables into Cattle Cars destined for the O’Biden Reeducation Camps without fear of retribution. Not a one.
Once you know that Truth, calling them misguided isn’t the word that comes to mind.
