They always overcharge these guys and lose. The DA should have followed my advice and gone with criminal negligence which is about the best they are going to do in this case. It wasn’t murder.
I had originally read that bail was $2,000,000, then read that the charge of 1st degree homicide is not bailable so...
I think the argument against cash bond is that it favors the rich and well-connected (or in this case those who have successful GoFundMe pages and high-profile cases) over the working man and woman. If a celebrity is arrested, he pays what is to him chump change and goes home. He shows up in a neatly pressed suit to his trial, making a better impression on the jury. Joe Sixpack, arrested for the exact same offense, sits in jail because he can’t afford bail. Possibly he loses his job in the meantime, making it even harder for him to afford decent legal representation. He shows up for his trial either in an orange jumpsuit or in his rumpled working clothes. We need a justice system that is not only color-blind but dollar-blind.
I agree that the officer was guilty of negligence, even if Floyd would have died of an overdose anyway. How much damage can a handcuffed man do?
I like your tagline, by the way.
Same thing happened with OJ, remember the black juror giving the black power salute after he was acquitted? Double homicide, two people butchered to death, overwhelming evidence and they let him go solely because of his race. I tell you, when I was on that jury, that is about the only time in my life I witnessed first hand REAL racism and I’m 58, been around quite awhile. Same crap is going on today isn’t it with BLM and Antifa. They don’t give a damn about some black kid shot to death in a project by a gang member, but if a white cop does it, they riot and loot
The world is big.
= = =
Not as big as it once was.
I think I would take some serious planning to disappear today.
Cut all ties, maybe plastic surgery, change name, move.
Move to where. How about Poland?
I tell you, when I was on that jury
= = =
Do you mean that?
You were on OJ’s jury?
I stayed home from work to watch the verdict. I remember, not real surprised, but really disappointed.

Well, I can see that you are not watching enough action movies.
Burn baby burn will happen again

Sorry. They are going to have to get Federal Grants to rebuild infrastructure to have anything else to burn.
Or get a grant to research how to re-burn burned stuff. Might take some nuke device.
If I had any white-water rafting experience, it would be real handy as the world plunges down the whirling liquid tornado descending via the porcelain circular path to perdition.
I received a phone call that a Soldier was going crazy in the building next door.
I ran over.
The Soldier had a physique like Pee Wee Herman.
He was on the ground fighting with two big Sergeants.
The guy was in shackles.....handcuffs and leg irons connected by a chain.
He threw off both big Sergeants and kicked his legs apart like he was making a snow angel.
He snapped the leg irons.
The two big Sergeants started backing away.
Thats an eyewitness account of what a little guy on drugs can do.
A big guy on drugs?
Dangerous.
That should be=
Circular Porcelain Path
For poetic alliteration, and all that.
LOL! NOOO I wasnt on OJs jury. I was meant the arson case in NYC
Well, I can see that you are not watching enough action movies.
On that count I am definitely guilty. On the rare occasions when Mr. FFRL drags me to see an action movie with him I generally fall asleep on his shoulder. If I want to see violence I watch the Godfather or Game of Thrones.
