I took my then 7 year old son clamming at Clam Beach in Humboldt county Ca the morning after that earthquake. The good clamming was on a “island” and we waded out and started digging with another 20 or so folks but soon the “tide” started rising and everyone headed to high ground and by the time I picked up my son and crossed the inlet the water was up to my shoulders. I got the cold shakes and sat in the old Jeep pickup with the heater on full blast for 30 or 40 minutes before I could drive the 20 miles to Eureka and home

It’s cold water to be sure!

Never liked being out that far even when body surfing.

Stay safe!
