American catholics will have to break away from the vatican, or they will be broken away from America.

Im Catholic. The Pope can speak on matters of pure faith and I will accept his words. BTW, such a right has been very rarely used by Popes. Christ, the Bible and tradition have already taught us what we need.
when the Pope speaks on economics, or the environment, politics, or government social policy, Im free to respectfully consider him an @$$hole.

American catholics will have to break away from the vatican, or they will be broken away from America. It's just like protestants/evangelicals that stay in churches that they know are not "Scripturally correct" and not missions minded with concern for the unsaved.

As a patriotic cradle catholic, that’s an easy choice.

Too many of my fellow Catholics are too doctrinaire. To them it is Holy Mother Church, no matter what, come what may. Making any sort of noise about leaving would make you {gasp...] a Protestant!
My view is that if you take the position that there are NO circumstances that would compel you to leave you become an enabler.
Sort of like when Huey Long got a majority of the Louisiana State Legislature to sign a letter stating they would not vote to impeach him for ANY reason. It gave him carte-blanche to do as he wished.
