I’d rather see them than what passes for Chicago these days.
Just watch the original band
Having seen both now (Chicago in the 1980s and 1990s) yes I prefer Leonid & Friends.
As is usual, I get weird little moments when amazing things come my way. Got to meet a few of them. Ksenia is very sweet in person. Spoke with the drummer a couple times, briefly, and their new lead guitarist, Konstantin. Saxophone guy was there and a few crew members. I had hoped I could meet them someday but never really thought it would actually happen.
Didn’t get to run into Leonid unfortunately. The lead guitarist pulled out his cellphone and showed me their upcoming schedule.
Then he scrolled down to show the end date in Moscow. Or at least, that’s the last date he showed me. Konstantin and I spoke about his guitars; when he first passed by me earlier that day, he had a different case. Konstantin said that was his Telecaster in that case (he had a different case next to him).
Drum solo by Igor was awesome. 10 minutes, or so it seemed. I asked Igor about studying Danny Seraphine for the intro to “Free” and Igor replied he had also studied Buddy Rich’s style.
