We occasionally have a problem with black bears in our yard at our house in Tacoma. The house is close to a large wilderness park and a steep hillside with a lot of trees and brush. We can tell when the bears have been around as soon as we get there. We have several large fir trees. They like the largest one in the front yard. The bears climb it and break off healthy branches and when we open the gate we find them scattered around the yard. Sometimes there will also be a lot of bear poop around the bottom of the tree.
One of our neighbors who lives near the bottom of the steep hillside took a picture of two of them in his back yard two weeks ago. They will not win the fat bear contest but it is a funny picture.
