I think that it is because they are in D.C. Everyone in that area thinks only one way. Weak people are influenced by what their peers are thinking. They get to D.C. with one mindset and start socializing with the D.C. crowd and gradually they begin to start thinking like them. They begin to get only the D.C. thought process and begin to believe that the entire country agrees with them. The press makes them heroes for coming around and they relish the praise.

Many moons ago I was a naval officer who was required to attend Navy ship commissionings, launchings, keel layings etc. that took place about 150 miles from DC. Each ceremony was followed by extensive receptions with lots of food, drink and top pols from both political parties. My shipmates and I were astounded at the backslapping “collegiality” of the GOP and RAT nobility, while Watergate raged just a few hours drive away. I began to see that the underlying, and not visible to the average voter, issues driving politics in the US party system is who will run the train, blow the whistle and ring the bell; not that which is in keeping with our founders excellent plans for a government.

Trump is the fly in the crowd I described above’s ointment. And, as seen lately, these posers will let cities burn, if it brings them a majority. I am quite certain we've been building toward a reckoning for so long that now only a sustained period of financial and physical insecurity will bring about constructive change. Hope I'm wrong; “But I don't think so.”
