It looks at how both conservatism and liberalism exist in humans because each is a sort of programming, designed to guide us to the best behaviors in two types of environments. Conservatism is a K-selected psychology designed to guide us to survive and reproduce in a harsh world where there is not enough food to go around, sort of like wolf packs who need to band together and fight for territory. Meanwhile liberalism is an r-selected psychology designed to guide us on how best to reproduce in a world of free resources, like rabbits in fields of grass they will never fully consume. Lots of empirical evidence and references to studies in the fields showing how it works and how it develops in the brain.
