I vaguely remember reading a funny story about the recording of the title song, "Aja" - one of the background singers recounted how she was begging the producer to rescue her because Fagen had her in the studio singing the same refrain over and over again for hours (might have been days, can't remember). Perfection comes at a cost, I guess =).
