I want to buy a home defense shotgun and I would appreciate FR input. Ive always been more of a rifle and pistol person. What say yall to a senior citizen buying a shotgun for the first time. Is Mossberg Shockmaster or Roadblocker a good choice.
You’re a bad, bad man. ;)
I have the Remington. Just like the location of the safety more than I do the Mossy’s.

Guns are like most things and everyone has an opinion. My
suggestion is if you have any gun ranges within your area
go visit them and talk with shooters and host.
That you son?
Before you take anything home, look at a Tavor TS12.
It is expensive and odd-looking, but has some really interesting features.
Perazzi tends to put out a good product. The High Tech 5 with a 29 1/2” barrel is a really good gun
FNH SLP autoloader, 6 + 1, no pistol grip.
In a post-apocalyptic world, only 12 gauge shotgun shells exist.
You can buy reduced-kick 12 gauge for your own use if you can’t handle the full-bore stuff. Twelves are flexible like that.
You want common calibers, 12 gauge, 9mm, .45, .223, .308 if thing go south.
I had a Winchester pump short-barrel 12-gauge. I sold it in a moment of weakness and have never forgiven myself. Mossberg makes fine shotguns, and that has eased the sting a little bit. Model 500 for the win.
But get a Twelve. Not a Twenty. Or a Sixteen. Or a Four-Ten. Thank me later.
Best advice on this entire thread!
;^)
Mossberg 590 Shockwave.
Mossberg 930 Tactical. Point and shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot......
Quite intriguing. I bet one of those would look good on an 870...
Mossberg 500 is what I own!
Mossberg 500
good luck finding one at a reasonable price
DP-12 or nothing.
Mossberg 500 20ga pump + buckshot for home security. And a 25 round sling for escalating events.
I’d agree with that
FRiend,12 ga.
Who knows about ammo
Availability !?!
Things might keep going down hill
From where we are now.
Lots of 12ga. Reloaders
Out there,,do the math!
They make them for Remington 870 and Mossberg 500/Maverick 88.
Makes shooting 12 ga buck shot and slugs possible for me.
I had only 20 ga before my brother showed me how great these things are.
