In ‘77 we saw them in the Richmond Coliseum. We were the only 4 white guys in the place. Purple smoke everywhere.
We drove home in a VW bug at ten miles an hour, but at one intersection we crossed the stop line, just a couple of feet over, and an octogenarian pedestrian who was crossing put both hands on the hood and pushed us backwards.
I’ve always loved that song.
We used to do make a big deal on days mentioned in song on the radio. June 3rd in ode to Billy Joe, Bobby Goldsboro Summer (The First Time) “Last day of June” as examples. EW&F they would always give me a hard time with.

That song was played at the end of “Night at the Museum” where all of the exhibits have come to life and are dancing and having fun. Hugely popular movie with kids. My then 5 year old was instantly hooked on it. Today, at 18, it is still one of his favorites.
I received a text from him on Monday morning which simply read: Ba-Dee-Ya.
One of my friends said tat song was playing on his iPod when his oldest song was born. I never asked him if the son like that song.

Dang, I’ve got the Brothers Johnson’s Strawberry Letter 23 and Stomp on my Itunes.......I think one of them passed a few years ago. I’m not a deep thinker like you dfwgator.....LOL if you find out, let me know......;)
