Wild hog looks and tastes more like a combo of beef than the light porky/fatty taste of domestic hog.

Males are good when young, best when their nuts have been cut.

Depends on age of pig. Smaller ones are quite good. Big ones are bragging rights and dog food ;-)

Over the years I have realized that book sense doesn’t necisarrilly translate to common sense (which ain’t so common any more). Something tells me you biologist would have to have one of ‘em bite her on the butt to wake her up.

Even 308 needs shot placement and a ‘hog load’ is preferable

You can bounce a 308 off the boney shoulder or head.

no... they are all killed.

Friend of mine catches them and kills the adults, then fattens up the babies to about 200 to 300 lbs...at which point they are delicious.

Yep. Even 308.

D@mn things are fast and tough, and if you don’t drop the hog with a good shot they can run wounded for a LONG distance. You won’t find it - others will eat it before you locate it the next day.

Always seek a merciful and fast kill.

Not legal in Texas to release a captured feral hog.

The hogs have to be destroyed, either on site or at a meat packing plant.

They ate all the bait and then slept it off outside the trap.

It might have a different taste but in the end it’s still BACON!

Nope, They shoot them right in the trap. They used to pay people to hunt them but those same people were dropping off imported European Boars into the woods which is why the wild hogs get so big now. They were breeding the Euro hogs at home and dropping them off in the woods to keep the population up and keep the paycheck rolling in.

I'm not worried about 400 lb pigs. At least you can turn them into bacon.

It's the 400 lb rats I'm worried about...

Indeed... They started running with the trap being tripped!

Most guys would feed them corn for a couple weeks before they let them nap.
