There were also other melon varieties I hadnt seen before, but I dont recall anything about them other than that they were different.
I suppose its like apples and all other produce. There used to be lots more different kinds of apples, thousands I think. Now only a few are sold in chain grocery stores.
Afghanistan is full of remote mountain villages with agriculture near the snow melt fed streams and rivers. Theres likely many unique and unknown varieties that are only in a few locations. I never saw these melons in the main city Kabul.
It was worth a try. An ice cream melon sounded interesting.
