No, Stevie isn’t better. He’s not as good.

Maybe Danny Gatton was better.

Maybe.

...Jimi Hendrix the greatest guitarist?

I was always partial to Mason Williams (Classical Gas)

Hmm... Santana was always overrated. Now Jeff Beck might something to say about it.

RE: Jimi Hendrix the greatest guitarist? Santana might disagree.

Can Carlos play the guitar with his teeth? :)

Classical Gas is good, and worth learning to play.

Little Wing showed what a virtuoso he was.

“Probably like The Partridge Family and Lynard Skynard double bill?”

With Skynard as the opening act.

And Mike Nesmith was a big fan of Frank Zappa who appeared briefly on the show.

Mason was not rock if you are throwing wide open you would have to bring in Chet Atkins, Wes Montgomery and a bunch of others

“Though he was very good, in my mind he clearly wasn’t the greatest.”

You have obviously never listened to Band of Gypsys.

Yes, a 3 man band with one guitar. Live.

Jimi Hendrix said Terry Kath was the best he’d ever seen.

“””””””I think “Jimi Hendrix is the greatest guitarist” is just something you’re supposed to say.””””””””

Same goes with listening to everyone saying the Beatles are the greatest thing ever. They sucked then, they suck now.

you are so right about you are ‘supposed” to say that....and we all know why, because he was black...i never got the whole Hendrix thing...i guess for his time he was unique, but the songs were very average and the guitar playing has aged badly...the live stuff was mostly a lot of feedback and just plain noise. Greatest player i myself ever saw and heard was Randy Rhoads...the 2 records he did with Ozzy are 40 years old, but still sound fresh and vibrant...his live playing was just astounding...

You spelled Stevie Ray Vaughan wrong.

I like SRV, but Terry Kath was a better player and better singer.
