We had a little cat toy that projected a laser and moved it around. Instead of chasing the red dot, the cats wanted to track it to its source and kept trying to look down the barrel, straight into the laser!
We finally threw it out.

Some of our cats have figured out right away where the light comes from, but some never do. You’re right, though, if they want to look into the laser source, game’s over.
