Actually, if the Republicans are DILIGENT, this won’t have much effect in practice. “Fishy” looking signatures should still ALWAYS be challenged. That will result in that ballot being set aside and not counted... unless that registered voter comes in and verifies that it is his/her signature and that they cast that mailed-in ballot. That should screen out most fraudulent mail in “imposter” votes... again, if the local Republicans are 100% diligent.
Understand that there was a federal lawsuit (now dropped) to force PA to accept these ballots. The arguement was that PA state law does not allow for a ballot to be discarded based on signature.
