How many Nazis and Japanese emporer-worshippers, all well-armed, were there? We beat them, despite the great sacrifice in blood, treasure AND THE COST TO OUR SOULS - because it was necessary. If we ever do get to the point of a civil war in this country, there will be plenty of hard-hearted people on our side to finish the job - that’s the nature of what that kind of a war does to people in any culture in any time period that you could mention.

We didn't just beat the Germans and the Japanese militarily; we converted them to our way of thinking. We got them to see that living in a Constitutional republic is a lot better than kowtowing to the emperor or the Fuhrer. That's what needs to happen here. Look at the quagmires we got ourselves into in Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq. That is what happens when you win the war but not hearts and minds.
