That’s funny! My family name was original “LeBlanc” meaning “White” in French, but we hail back to MiQ-M’ac Indians from Nova Scotia.
My paternal grandfather was born “Vashevnikov.” One variation of that is “Vasovnikov” or “Vasovinik” - and I’m still trying to find out the original derivation of the name. It would be a real hoot if my very distant ancestors (beyond about 1800) who my GF said originally came from Germany, had a name that meant “white” or something close to it.
FYI, I live right near Blanco Road...and in Spanish, blanco is white. I guess that I can’t get away from it. :>)
