Has Harris bailed the perp out yet?
Did he have a gun or grab one of their's?
Damn. I’m shaking like I’ve drank a pot of coffee. That video ain’t for sissy’s.
What caliber pistol?
Attitude encouraged 1000% by democrats, he had absolute zero respect for those cops. And where the hell are the cops nightsticks? In the past a situation like this would have been handled with a “wooden shampoo” to hell with your damn taser and face spray and look what happened.
That ended badly. Their focus on using those non-lethal weapons contributed to these cops getting shot up.
I hate to be a Monday morning quarterback, but the cops should have called for back up as soon as it was clear this POS was going to be a problem.
Honestly, they were too lenient with him. I personally would have tased him far sooner, but he was squirmy when they started to pull him out. That alone was a big red flag to viewers. He kept reaching into the car, and while you’re trying to get control of him, it’s easy to lose what his hands are doing. This guy was more than a handful.
Fvcking terrible. My God. I’m sure the gun was owned illegally too, hence his resilience in getting out. He didn’t want them finding it.
If he’d just gotten out, they would have all walked away. This breaks my heart.
May the Lord grant the repose of Sergeant Johnson’s soul and console his family.
That was shocking. The law officers did their best to treat the perp in the best manner possible, going as far as giving the perp every chance to cooperate, and for their trouble one law officer had his life snatched away and the other is fighting for his. This actually shows why law officers in the US will approach a suspect vehicle or building with guns drawn - things can shift south in the blink of an eye and they need to be constantly vigilant. A very sad video.
I’ve watched it only as far as several repeated arguments from the officers. Besides the driver’s behavior, they knew about his history. I’m thinking that they allowed that situation to go on for too long, and I will continue watching the video now.
Before continuing to watch, I’ll say that video would probably be good as a training video for academies and am guessing that it will be.
I think they should make it mandatory that all police officers while on duty must wear bullet proof vests. That won’t stop all the police deaths but will probably cut them in half!!
I watched the remainder of the video. Not much they could have done with that situation with training available at the time in that jurisdiction.
Police need to start training to disable a vehicle after a driver’s first refusal to leave the vehicle. That would prevent a drive-away and some liability. Then they can tell the driver to get out and lay on the ground (on the belly, spread out) while waiting for backup.
More late night backup available and better communication between agencies would also help.
This situation is similar to many of the White Officer shoots Black Man incidents. When Blacks look at this video do they have a problem with the way it was handled? Do they look at this video and realize if they just listen to the Cops then maybe they won’t get shot?
Do Blacks look at this differently because everyone is white and they are not blinded by assumed racism?
Life isn’t that tough if you show respect and follow rules, if you don’t sometimes life is short.
I heard the shot officer screaming but did not hear a gunshot. The gun must have had a silencer.
Easy to say in hindsight but I think one officer should’ve grabbed both his ankles and yanked him out of the seat feet first.
