Just got a call from claiming I had won the PCH and was 5+ million richer. They left a robocall number in New York. No really! How much did you win?
Maybe somebody should enlighten them that they may find fulfillment through service to their fellow man.
Don’t feel sorry for them one bit, with so many people struggling right now.
Mo’ Money Mo’ Problems
Lifestyles of the rich and the famous
They’re always complainin’
Always complainin’
If money is such a problem
Well they got mansions
Think we should rob them
0.01% problems.
Why yes, yes it does suck being.................. Oh. Never mind. Probably only wealthy because screwing over minorities using white privi................ Oh, not that either?
The interesting thing was the few stats they had on millionaires that mirrored “The Millionaire Next Door” and Chris Hogan’s “Everyday Millionaires” findings.
Then I'll be able to dredge up some sympathy for them. Note that I've clearly said I don't want the above-stated conditions to be permanent. But I do want people like them to be able to comprehend what it's like to have to live the way many of us do.
One thing I always thought about being so wealthy is you must always wonder if anyone is really your friend or really loves you.
If I was rich Id keep a low profile I think.
I have an idea.
Don’t flaunt wealth.
Don’t participate in rich people things. Excepting private aircraft, the trappings of richness are generally unnecessary.
Private aircraft in the day of Covid and post-9/11 rock, however. Absolutely awesome.
But no one but your pilots need to know you have one.
Perchik: Money is the world’s curse.
Tevye: May the Lord smite me with it. And may I never recover.
I can identify with this somewhat. I'm not as rich as these folks but a millionaire. On paper anyhow. At least my 401(k) shows in seven digits and I do okay with income.
It does make it awkward with family and friends. If you get them expensive gifts, you are showing off and "lording it over them." If not, then you are a cheapskate. Can't win either way.
Still I'd rather be where I am as opposed to struggling.
My advice to the younger folks is to max out 401(k) and Roth IRA and work hard. Always be working. Even if you have to take jobs you feel are "beneath you." And live below your means - stay out of debt! The rest will follow over time.
Oh there ain’t no rest for the wicked
Money don’t grow on trees
I got bills to pay, I got mouths to feed
There ain’t nothing in this world for free
Oh no, I can’t slow down, I can’t hold back
Though you know, I wish I could
Oh no there ain’t no rest for the wicked
Until we close our eyes for good
If it’s so hard being rich, and she hates it so much, I’ll take all of that mean old nasty money off of her hands.
I’m going to take a moment to complain about rich people complain. Nope, I decided against it. C’est la vie.
I’ve known several millionaires, from work and friends. They are nice people, and it’s true. They have a set of problems from that particular bracket and everyone seems to think money solves it all.
I have seen they have some very nice things from that money and some good times from it. I never have held that against people. Isn’t that supposed to be kind of the blessing of being in this country? Freedom and the fun of living in a country that gives you the option of capitalism’s bounty?
They are human beings with pain and hardship in the same categories we all do, health problems, family difficulties, deaths, struggles it’s all there for them as well.
If you claim to be a Christian do not imagine it’s all roses because someone has a big bank account. It’s not.
Don’t throw me in that Briar Patch
I’ve been around the wealthy my whole life. Most of the rich people I’ve known have been miserable, many of them alcoholics and with screwed up families. Anyone who is able to comfortably meet basic needs such as shelter, food and beer and has a good family life and good friends will be at least as happy as the richest among us. Life’s simple pleasures really are the best. It never ceases to amaze me what people are willing to give up to chase big dollars.
When you’re poor, all you worry about is money. When you’re rich, you worry about everything but money.
