It would be Open Season on anything and everything in a military uniform. Not good.
The generals would still have to watch their backs because a military putsch might be physically opposed by the colonels and the majors and most ominous of all, the sergeants. The problem would not be during the coup but in the aftermath. The grunts would not like it either and most might sit on their hands or turn to their sergeants and junior and field grade officers.
