College football winners and losers: Florida State opens the season with another dud

Just because Florida State hired a new coach it didn’t mean the program’s problems were all of a sudden going to disappear. And that was very apparent as the Mike Norvell era kicked off with a miserable 16-13 loss to Georgia Tech in Tallahassee.

Saturday’s loss looked a lot like the two openers the Seminoles played under Willie Taggart — ugly losses that FSU fans have tried to forget. It was more of what we’ve come to expect from Florida State in recent years, especially on offense.

The metaphorical dumpster fire in Tallahassee still going strong and there was a real dumpster fire at The Swamp.

The Sun Belt went 2 - 0 vs. Big 12 = 10.

Ga. Tech actually played well, they lead in most stats, and should be commended, someone has to lose, it’s a game after all

Tired Nole fan here, Georgia Tech got better, and FSU quickly revealed themselves to be a very good high school team wth flashes of brilliance.
GA Tech could have six points except for the blocked field goals by one FSU star. Noles had a lot of players with hands on hips tired, both sides of the ball, early in the game with lots of rain delay. There was one well coached and ready team on the field. It was GaTech.

Another winner was Co-Vid 19... Think a few games/seasons are cancelled by it.

The Sun Belt went 2 - 0 vs. Big 12 = 10.

3-0, K-State, Iowa State and KU. Although KU football loses to everyone.

I thought about watching Clemson but didn’t want to have my evening ruined by more blm BS. Tell me, we’re they kneeling, locking arms or any of that crap? Was it a three hour monologue from the announcers about their white privilege?

Except for the BLM patches on the jerseys and helmets of various teams. The "unity" decals, etc...ad nauseum. At least those were my observations from checking a half dozen games yesterday for approx. 5' each game. No football in my house this season. None.

FSU should have gotten rid of Taggart two years ago when they needed the 4th quarter to beat Samford and the Duck.

wrong watched 5 minutes of the Duke Notre Dame and the announcers were pointing out the black D on the blue duke helmets and the fist sticker on the back. I immediately turned it off and read a book.

Most college teams have the players stay in the locker room for the national anthem, so that has minimized incidents of disrespect there.

WVU announced early in the week that they were going to have players wear “BLM” stickers on their helmets. That was met with such quick and resounding constituent outraget that they ended up up have a few “unity” stickers.

I watched a few minutes of Clemson/Wake Forest. WF seemed way over matched, just couldn’t seem to get interested and tired quickly of the 4 minute commercial breaks, repeating the same ads. Looked like only 2,000 people in the stands. It felt a drag.

I lasted maybe 15 minutes and switched back over to RSBN on YouTube to wait for the President to show.

That was a much better game.

The ‘Noles have a history of this. I was there from ‘73 to ‘77. Bowden inherited a losing team. He built it up over years. History does repeat itself. That said, the abrupt departure of his successor, Jimbo Fisher, was like throwing a hand-grenade into the recruiting, creating a big downward spiral. I realize that Fisher had family reasons (an ill son) that prompted the move. The news at the time made me think he did not give the administration and his colleagues a fair warning.
