Yep. I have a complaint. The pictures all turn out pink and misty, the flash is too bright and the red eye reduction is the opposite!

Thank you all for your suggestions. The consensus seems to be lots of cams are better than just one. Unfortunately budget doesn't allow for them and even if it did, we are limited as to where we can set up additional ones. Another issue for us is we wanted a system that was not dependent on a smartphone. We just don't trust them.

With the steel case on the trail cam and padlocking it we don't think the adjacent will be able to run off with the cam unless he tears down our yard gate and fencing which will definitely earn him some jail time. Will be using signage that states surveillance is in progress, as the state statute requires it if the camera is not clearly visible as such.

1) Get a sign like this.
https://images.homedepot-static.com/productImages/ba118fef-8283-41a8-94ac-eb70553d4f13/svn/everbilt-stock-signs-31104-64_1000.jpg
I down loaded the image and printed it on photo paper and put it in my window by the front door.

2) you can improve your camera features by using better software like ISpyConnect https://www.ispyconnect.com

3) To find out how people like it.

Go down to “Play It Again Sports” Buy an aluminum 32 oz used ball bat. Get a dark colored lawn chair and don dark clothing. Get in the shadows and wait. Wear a head mounted Light Stream spot light. When said AHole arrives blind him with the lamp, use the bat to remind him he’s an asshole. While he lays there urinate in his face and tell him to have a nice day. If he shows up again place the ball bat in his rectum and shoot him. He’s crapping up the gene pool. IMO

I went with a Nest IQ outdoor camera to secure the back doors. Not cheap, but great facial recognition, works excellently in night conditions and cloud storage so tampering with the camera isn’t going to keep me from seeing the miscreant in action. But no amount of technology may be able to help with a neighbor from hell - you have my sympathies.

Just an advisory. I am certainly no expert in the field of home security cameras, but I do have a friend who is; and he states he is removing all of his because he is very concerned the cameras can be remotely reprogrammed to spy on you, your family, and your home.

Something to think about.

I realize you’re asking about video, but in the long run, it’s cheaper, time and aggravation and future neighbor-revenge-wise, just to quietly put up a three or four-foot picket fence just inside your property line to protect your yard. If he tears that down, you’ve got a property destruction case instead of a ‘he stepped on my petunias’ case.

That was my first though. They say fences make good neighbors.

Adjacent property owner is trespassing in our front yard and deliberately destroying our lawn along his driveway, extending out to five feet of our lawn.

I assume he's driving on your property? Taking extra wide turn to go in and out the driveway? Have you asked him why? Or is this just "Get off my lawn!"

Fence or even just posts or large boulders etc. At any rate, make 100% sure you know where the property line is. Would be kind of embarrassing to go through the whole Hatfield & McCoy thing only to find out the property line isn't quite where you thought it was due to prior occupant's habits.

The HOA rules and regs prohibit any fencing at the front of all lots in our subdivision. Besides, he would just tear it all down. He has no inhibitions.

Some background is in order. The man is a foreign national knows little English. Moved in about 9 years ago we have been here 34 years. First thing he did was saw off half the limbs on our tree which were overhanging his driveway without even asking us or talking about it. Used his kid as an interpreter.

Kid grew up to have an arrest record in our county. The man himself has a criminal record in California. Spoken to them many times in vain, all they care about is encroaching on our front lawn, claiming part of our property actually belongs to them.

County tax assessor electronic record shows clearly our property line runs right up to the wall of their house. We had a neighborhood resource officer come out and show us on his laptop, unfortunately the county has been unable to confront the man next door he is elusive and works landscaping/mowing under the table for subcontractors.

He has it out for me because in 2016 I reported him for making renovations on his home without pulling any permits. He retaliated by tearing out decorative bricks we had installed with cement around our berm area fronting the street. County sheriff would not arrest him. This man's wife told my wife someone was going to die if I did not stop harassing her poor innocent bully of a husband.

We hired an expensive land use lawyer to send a cease and desist letter to them in 2016. The letter generated a visit from their entire family to my wife while I was not home, knocking at our door and threatening my wife with their "connections" to people downtown, and telling her she needed to divorce me because I was the crazy one.

They hired a jackass lawyer who sent our attorney a photo of our front yard with a line drawn halfway down it supposedly showing the part that was owned by his client. Our attorney did nothing.

Since then, this scantily-dressed horrid vulgar man has been verbally assaulting us whenever he sees us, has used his large truck to sideswipe me while I am walking our dogs (all of this has been reported to the county sheriffs office), and takes every opportunity to yell threats and profanities at me including clearing his throat and spitting at me. Now they act as though half of our front yard belongs to them.

We have no idea where or how they obtained the funds to buy the house next door. But it looks like they own it free and clear. They all drive expensive late model vehicles and have all the electronic idiot box smartphones. Speak little English.

Please don't tell us to move. We are too old for that, and the property is encumbered.

I use WYZE cameras at $25 each. They are indoor but can be adapted for outdoor with a separate case (amazon). Also WYZE now has an outdoor camera for less than $50. All of the cameras store images on the cloud for free for a couple of weeks. I have 7 of them scattered around my house. I monitor them with a free cell phone app.
