IN a quiet market town, distraught cat owners comb the streets, occasionally calling out their pets names.
Lamp posts bear the tattered corners of posters where home-made missing appeals were hung.
The ones still intact remind residents of a macabre history.
In the past few weeks, TEN cats have gone missing in Cinderford, Gloucs, making locals fear a return of the towns cat killers of 2016.
Then, it was thought a vile gang was snatching cats as part of a gruesome initiation ceremony, killing the animals or mutilating them so horribly they had to be put down.
Grandmother Carole Harris, 56, is worried about her 13-year-old puss, Denzel.
She said: Have these cats gone off and died somewhere, or have they been taken?
You just wonder about anybody passing by who stops to pet a cat.
Carole remembers the horrific cat killings four years ago and worries it could be happening again.
She said: It has made me much more worried about my cat.
When I heard about what that gang was doing to those poor cats a few years ago, that kind of thing kills me.
You just dont know if that gang is making a comeback in the town. It is really worrying.
Our cat is very much part of the family. I dont know what I would do.
They have to import gangs for their cats?
We have coyotes to take care of that!
OK, so I'm not much of a cat person but I clicked on this because it seemed just inane enough to be entertaining just a little.
Seems a few use cats in rituals regarding devil. worship satanic cults. probably what’s happening here.
After reading descriptions of the mutilations, I contacted Texas Parks & Wildlife and set them up with the Hood County Sheriff Dept.
Next, I contacted Crime Stoppers and gave them my information and told them when the time comes, to send the reward to may Church. I told them that Texas Parks & Wildlife was coming to investigate the "crime scenes" and that I suspected a owl to be kill'ns and eating the cats.
About 3 days later, Crime Stoppers called me back and said "No crime committed, No reward".
Owls will kill cats and cut them up. I asked a TP&W biologist why owls cut the paws and head off cats...said he did not know.
Cats just think they own the night.
Yes. Maybe a just more than usual talented cat-killing dog...
Lots of coyotes make a living on eating pet cats...
Excellent point about owls.
England has plenty of owls.
Or likes them very much - a la here kitty kitty chow mein.
In my area of the suburbs, a cat out after dark has low survival odds. Not because of a satanic gang, but because of the local fox.
“moggie” is British slang for cat.
Cats are three times more likely than dogs to be victims of cruelty.
“If you love your cats, keep them indoors.”
A few years ago, a coyote made a meal out of Miley Cyrus's dog.
It really was a beautiful loving house dog - probably had no idea what was happening...
“Hi, coyote, want to pretend like we are chasing each other in the back yard?”
Whoops.
How did that come about I wonder and why is it in Caps.?
Eaten by Dog Faced Pony Soldiers.
Don’t let your pet cats outside (at least not unsupervised). Too many animals and psychopaths out there.
Some owl has a happy tummy tonight.
Just what I thought.
Cats are too skittish to be abuse three-fold dogs.
*sigh* Yeah. Seldom does a week go by here without a couple missing cats posts on NextDoor, followed by several admonishments about keeping your cat indoors in coyote country.
The message never seems to penetrate.
