I have trouble with the word “meme”. Never can remember exactly what it means. Here’s the definition:

“a cultural item that is transmitted by repetition and replication in a manner analogous to the biological transmission of genes.”

Here are synonyms:
buzzword
trend
concept
craze
fad
fashion
idea
kick
meteor
vogue

It’s a vague word, huh?

Look at it like this: MEME rhymes with THEME.

The word "meme" as we mainly use it today pertains to a manipulated image (sometimes GIF) with a topical or pop culture reference that is then transmitted and shared repetitiously over the Internet, mostly social media.

Memes are not limited to politics.

You know what word I'm not comfortable with? Nuance.
