Gawd! It doesn't take a genius to figure this out. Sports fans do not want to be lectured to by a bunch of overpaid jocks who have spent the better part of their lives mastering bouncing a ball and stuffing it through a hoop and who have generally no concept of what Joe Citizen's day-to-day life is like. Further, people have realized over the last several months that they can get by just fine without professional sports.
Tomorrow evening we have our fantasy football draft. This is our thirty-first year but I have never felt so ambivalent and apathetic about it. I'm going to draft a team and that's it. The team can sink or swim after that.
