I thought about that this morning. I’ve got a couple of books on that and they used to have an attraction dedicated to the storm in Galveston on the Strand. One was you go into this dark room and they play what might have sounded and looked and felt like during the storm for those who had been thrown out of their destroyed homes. It was scary to say the least......RIP to all 6000 or so souls who didn’t make it......

There was a documentary movie called “Isiacs’s storm. Great recreation of the hurricane. The storm took over 8,000 lives. There are also youtube vids of the aftermath of the storm.

Earlier in my life, I wanted to live on the island, but after seeing what Hurricane Alicia did in ‘83 I gave up on that idea. I went out to the west end of the island and saw mattresses, refrigerators, and other furniture scattered all over the place and empty slabs.
