Creek Fire in California
myself | Sept 8, 2020 | myself

The Creek Fire in the Central Sierras has again almost doubled overnight. As of this morning, it is 134,000 acres and that was a number from several hours ago.

The 80-90% tree mortality is a major contributor to the feeding of this monster. The fire started at Big Creek which is a So Cal Edison town that supplies hydropower to So California for SCE corporation. The cause of the fire is unknown.

It decimated Big Creek, has taken out half the town of Shaver Lake and is moving south to Auberry and east to North Fork, Bass Lake, and Oakhurst.

There are tens of thousands of people that have been evacuated. All of Big Creek, Shaver Lake, Auberry, North Fork, Bass Lake, and Oakhurst have been evacuated, as well as all of the campgrounds in those areas. Large unincorporated areas, including subdivisions, are either evacuated or under pre-evacuation warnings.

There is zero percent containment. CalFire, the California Army Guard and the California Air National Guard are all in on this incident.

The Army Guard has been rescuing campers and hikers that have been trapped at various locations. They evacuated 200 people from Mammoth Pools with Chinook helicopters when the only road out was cut off by the fire. There are still a large number of people in one location and several other people in small groups that are in scattered locations that they have not been able to rescue due to the conditions of smoke and wind.

This fire is a monster of epic proportions. It is now creating its own weather with high winds, lightning, and fire tornados.

Please pray for those that are trapped, the firefighters, those in the military that have been pulled to active duty to fight the fire or provide assistance, and those displaced by the fire.

Sheer madness reigns across California. Madness kills.

Dear God, please have mercy on these people, but most of all, please help them to come to You.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

I pray they can get this thing stopped soon and for those who have lost so much.

I also wonder how/why any public utility can continue to do business in California. We don’t know what caused it, but given what happened the last few years it is possible the utility will pay for it (again) and another “tax” will be passed on to consumers in California.

“and is moving south to Auberry and east to North Fork, Bass Lake, and Oakhurst.”

Shouldn’t that be WEST to North Fork, Bass Lake, and Oakhurst?

Prayers up. Friends in Clovis watching closing. Smoke and ash everywhere. California’s wacked out environmental laws cause these fires to be worse and the third-world style power blackouts. Who in the USA has to contend with routine power blackouts except California!

That's not my map. It's updated hourly automatically and outlines the extent of the fire, not the evacuation zone.

Have you heard anything if it’s advanced to Oakhurst?

According to these two maps (which supposedly were updated 10 minutes ago), it hasn't.

I’m 50 miles east of this fire and smoke is very heavy here. There is also a warning out that the Wawona area of Yosemite Park may have to evacuate.

I was only repeating what was on the CalFire website. It did not make sense to me either.

TY I forgot to include that in my post. I did see that they moved the evacuation lines down from the 4 lanes into Auberry, Prather, and Tollhouse.

I am so sad to hear that.

My property in Oakhurst is evacuated. The location that my godson moved to is now on pre-evacuation status and is actually closer to the fire than Oakhurst.

I’m sure that you know and have personally seen the whole sides of mountains with nothing but dead trees. It is crazy how bad it is up there.
