'Miracle on the Hudson' pilot says Trump unfit for office: 'Vote him out'
The Washington Times ^ | 09/07/2020 | Andrew Blake

Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger III, the retired pilot best known for successfully pulling off the “Miracle on the Hudson,” tore into President Trump in a series of Twitter posts Friday.

Mr. Sullenberger, who served in the U.S. Air Force before starting his civil aviation career, slammed Mr. Trump over disparaging remarks he reportedly made about service-members.

“While I am not surprised, I am disgusted by the current occupant of the Oval Office. He has repeatedly and consistently shown himself to be completely unfit for and to have no respect for the office he holds,” Mr. Sullenberger, 69, said on Twitter.

So, complete condemnation over a clearly made-up story.

“Pilots do it every day.”

Nice try. It is very common for an aircraft to strike birds, as it is difficult to avoid it. I know and have known several pilots (including my father, who was a USAFR colonel), and they’ve said that in general you don’t even see the birds until impact.

But the problem arises when birds are sucked into the engine intake (on a jet) or cowling. That can cause serious damage to an engine, often resulting in engine failure.

From Wikipedia (I know, it’s Wikipedia, but there are confirming sources all over): “Jet engines are particularly vulnerable during the takeoff phase when the engine is turning at a very high speed and the plane is at a low altitude where birds are more commonly found.”

So, in fact most pilots DO NOT avoid striking birds, thus refuting your argument.

Because you say so doesn’t make it a fact.

I am a pilot, so I know so, which makes it a fact.

I doubt seriously you fly jets. Maybe a single-engine Cessna, but most likely just an ultralight. In which case the birds are probably flying faster than you.

Here, this is from Boeing. I think I’ll defer to Boeing over your “experience” and “facts.”

You’re scrambling to find something relevant since you got busted claiming your opinion was fact.

Again, nice try.

What I posted was not MY opinion, it was the opinion and conclusion of a great many assets and sources. But, why should anyone listen to you? You’re the doofus who posted that China was LAND-LOCKED!

A made up story? Can you show a credible link to another disputing it?

btw, 'Sully' invited condemnation by opening his big mouth.

By believing FAKE NEWS over sources who were on the ground with Trump, Sullenberger has proven that he’s every bit as stupid as his character as portrayed by Tom Hanks. He has also shown himself to be the liberal equal of Hanks. To hell with this Trump-hating SOB.

“In February 2020, Sullenberger endorsed former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden for the presidency.”

Nothing to see here, move along.

Lots of individual stories with lots of individuals openly saying various parts didn’t happen - and the author of the original piece (Goldberg) backtracking on the Paris story.

Here is one of many:

I think a majority of Americans’ opinion of you has come down a notch or two.

More than that, I would suspect. He might regain a little respect, by making a public apology to Trump, but even then, it would only be the beginning of regaining respect. It would take a lot more action on his part, but he has to start somewhere. 😁

If I am not mistaken, I think he was flying an A-320.
