I would have never thought that communism would take and gain a foothold in a free nation????
**************
Our once free nation is under assault by well funded and well organized radicals, with backing and support from the Democrat Party. Portland is the first foot in the door; more cities will join the ‘utopian’ movement before long.
We are in for some very sobering times and some hard decisions over who we want to be and how to structure parts of the country in the future. Its coming.
Iannarone is wearing some very strange looking glasses in the photo.

Interesting mix of U.S. news and U.K. news at the site, by the way. I didn’t know that it was based in London. Looks like a good effort to inform.
To your point, after Trump leaves office we’re going to have to find someone to run who is willing to tolerate a lot of risk and abuse. And they are going to be forced to make unprecedented decisions regarding our future and defending what rights we have left. Abraham Lincoln comes to mind.

Portland mayoral candidate Sarah Iannarone [she/her] positions herself as a more progressive alternative to incumbent Mayor Ted Wheeler, who is seeking his second term. She’s made police accountability a major part of her platform, and has joined protesters on numerous occasions calling for racial justice and an end to police brutality.
Iannarone joined KGW for a taping of this week’s episode of Straight Talk.
When asked if she would denounce the smaller group of nightly protests that have gone on for more than 70 nights and often turn destructive and violent, Iannarone declined.
“I know nobody controls a social movement,” she said. “We need to understand these protests are part of a healthy democracy. Peaceful protests, in my opinion, might not necessarily be moving the conversation forward.”
Iannarone’s comments were made during the show’s taping on Aug. 6. On Aug. 7, Iannarones campaign sent KGW this statement on the issue:
“Criminal activity is illegal, and of course I don’t condone it. What I’m focused on is ensuring police do not use violence and even lethal force against people who have done nothing wrong, as we have seen nightly, and for decades. We must not take our focus off why these recent protests began, and reimagine public safety so we can save lives. I condemn arson, obviously. I also condemn the countless deaths of Black individuals at the hands of police.”
In a democracy you get the leadership you deserve.
Then Portland residents better start voting for better candidates.
And Normals better start trading in their comfortable lives to get involved in public service, rather than complaining that there’s nobody good to vote for.
Government isn’t going to get us out of this mess, unless the people take it upon themselves to do it.
Portland needs a Pinochet .. martial law and 1-way helicopter rides for the antifas.
A republican stands no chance of being elected in Portland and very little chance of winning in the suburbs immediately around Portland.
It is about as “deep-blue” as you can get.
Human nature and history clearly shows that the far-left is horrible at running any size government. It is far easier to tear down the system than to “be the system.”
I can’t wait to see the Antifa mayor protesting itself.
"...[Portland] is about as 'deep-blue' as you can get..."
I appreciate your sincere feedback. And I get what you’re saying. I guess my point is that you have to pick and choose your battles. In the Pacific Northwest there are just too many impediments to success. Expend your limited energy and resources on fights you can win that have the highest payoff. JMHO
and then they’ve got https://siebe2020.com/about-amanda
who traveled to DC to riot, and participates, with wheelchair, at Portland riots, putting out a video call from DC on Sat for ‘more bodies’ down at Portland JC.
you’d think with two antifa members running for office, that the FBI could reevaluate ‘no evidence of antifa’ but they seem to not be able to recognize anarchists.
OUT of the frying pan & INTO the fire......
There is a disconnect to reality on all sides of this. Thanks to the media, both left and right, people tend to think this civil unrest and chaos is much larger than it really is. Most of it involves small numbers of rioters in well-defined areas. Stories about this are combined with stories of violence in the inner city and urban corridors thanks to the withdrawal of the police and general quality of life crimes.
Most cities have not seen this violence and destruction and will not tolerate it, but with continued lock-downs more people view what they see on the news or their computer monitor as reality. In a nation already skittish with fear over the Chinavirus it is distorting reality.
I have friends who live outside Portland and their neighborhoods and retail corridors have seen little disruption outside of more graffiti. They are generally conservative, but they are also minimizing what is happening there because they have not witnessed it.
I never thought that a life long criminal would gain instant Sainthood by swallowing a fatal dose of fentynal and cause immediate destruction of over a BILLION $$$$ in a major American city.
Portland is the most atheist city in the US and has the most deceived voters in the country. There is no way they will vote for an (R), even though the GOP has run some very good candidates.
Portland has a revulsion at voting for a decent person, never mind party affiliation.
What was once called good will be called evil, Portland’s new motto.
