“you’ll never find a sweeter dog than a Bulldog. We had them years ago......beware, they’re not called the lazy mans dog for nothing. They don’t do overexertion very well......;)”

Our dog is a Staffy/bulldog mix; he is a rescue from Chicago’s Southside. He is sweet as can be. But, lazy? Lazy is too weak a word to describe him. Between being lazy and stubborn, he doesn’t get much done. On walks he’s gangbusters for the first five minutes or so, then PLOP! He’s on his belly, with that look that says “You don’t really expect me to get up and keep going, do you?” That’s a bit of hyperbole, but not by much!

How funny........our first Bullie would run circles around a tree in the front yard then come in an sleep for 2 days, her offspring was a beautiful girl and our son took her for a walk and ended up carrying her home.......she was overheated and we layed her on a cold tile floor, wrapped wet towels around her......thought we were going to lose her.....thank God we didn’t. She stayed in the house except for potty time......her offspring was born with so many birth defects it was unbelievable. Cleft palate, small, club feet but we didn’t give up....4 weeks doc sewed up his mouth 375 stitches.....he still had a little hole that would sometime make him gag on his food or snot would come out one side....he never got over 20 pounds but we got him to 9 years. He was our life and it killed us to lose him but he died peacefully in our arms. That mother, daughter and grandson gave us some of the best years of our lives........sorry to go on. It’s been 16 years since we lost him.......he was our last Bulldog. His mother and grandmother both died at 10 from congestive heart failure.....precious dogs
