At its bedrock core, Sacramento is still a redneck cow town.

With the most trees per square mile of any city in America.

Two factoids to back up “With the most trees per square mile of any city in America.”

1) EVERY year one of the major issues is the plethora of leaves in storm drains. Before the winter storms one can witness large trucks vacuuming each storm drain to get rid of the zillions of leaves.

2) if one goes up to the top floor of a downtown Sacramento skyscraper, one cannot see many homes, they are covered and hidden by all the trees.

That would be outer Sacramento. I lived a block from the capitol, and if there was a redneck or a cow to be seen I must have missed 'em. I did see plenty of homeless, grifters, and leftists. At least, back then, 2014, the cops enforced the no-sleeping in public rule, even to the point of removing anyone who's leaning over on a bench, although there was a permanent population of homeless along 12th street, especially in the underpass.

I understand that since the police have stopped enforcing vagrancy rules.

I enjoyed living there, but I don't miss it.

As for the trees, yep, heading towards midtown and along the river, lots of 'em. I can't see there being far more in Sac than in DC, though.

Sacramento used to be conservative and in fact most of northern CA apart from the coast still is.
