Where does one begin to take apart this looming disaster..... Let's see

1. To solicit public comment before this point, he said, could have driven land prices higher and cost residents even more ..... using the government to increase your profit margins by keeping it secret so the public cannot weigh in on anything and bring up minor issues like infrastructure and road construction and the HIGHER taxes that will come with the development, as they always do.

2. Penny Poole, president of the Gwinnett NAACP, said she finds the lack of transparency bothersome...... maybe she wanted to make sure the NAACP had certain guarantees concerning who gets the work, maybe not. Again secrets between the government and public.

3. In 2012, an Atlanta Journal-Constitution investigation found the county had paid inflated prices for parkland to some politically connected developers using questionable appraisals......You don't say. The developers knew that if word got out about this, they would have been paying out the nose for the dirt and they wanted to avoid that. 316 is the road from Atlanta to Athens and it's kind of a nightmare to drive on now. Definitely going to have to be expanded and what friend of the Governor, or someone else in government, is going to get that contract remains to be seen.

4. Lastly....the way it was being reported on local radio the other day was that they expect up to 100k new jobs in the area. I'm not sure what a "research center focused on medicine, agriculture and the environment" is going to look like but they were also talking about the proverbial goose that lays only golden eggs, tech jobs. As if they're the only ones that folks can make money. But while 'tech jobs' do bring high paying salaries, they also bring LIBERALS and H1B visa holders and their entire families. When that happens, the 60k vote margin that allowed for Kemp to be the Governor of Georgia will slowly slip away and Georgia will become the next North Carolina....purple sliding ever more BLUE. Because like the Lt Governor said in his interview with Erickson a while back, they want to turn Georgia into a leading tech location. That happens, the Peach State is another North Carolina, Washington, Oregon, Colorado, soon to be Tennessee and others.

We do have FReepers who live in that part of Georgia so maybe we’ll get some more insight on it.

The old expression “you can’t go home again” comes to mind. GA is going the way of NC.
